Often referred to as "The Brain" Nebula unofficially because of it's likeness to the human brain, The Crescent Nebula, also known as NGC 6888 and Caldwell 27 seen here in Color wth H-Alpha it is surrounded by the very dusty region of hydrogen filiments that you can see here in my process of just the H-Alpha. www.flickr.com/photos/terryhancock/13234357413/

In the constellation Cygnus about 5000 light years away it is classified as an emission nebula.
